The Atletico Madrid boss had many things to say after his team barely won 1-0 in the second fixture of the 2018-2019 La Liga season

For Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, compliments and critics have to be taken with a grain of salt.

After defeating Rayo Vallecano 1-0, Los Colchoneros’ boss spoke about what the first victory of the season means for the club.

“Compliments and critics don’t depend on us”, he said according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

“Work, compromise and humility are what depends on us.”

He also talked about the difficulty of the match, which was decided by an Antoine Griezmaan goal at the 63th-minute mark.

“It was difficult from the start, we did not start well. We were late to find our game,” he said.

“In the first half, we both had chances. And in the second half, we were able to become better.”

“But after the goal, we couldn’t recover the ball as we wanted. This was good for Rayo,” he added.
