Sofiane Boufal not short of suitors

Sofiane Boufal is unlikely to stay at Celta Vigo with the talented midfielder not eager to stay with parent club Southampton either.

It took Sofiane Boufal only one season at Lille to showcase his talents. In one season, he scored 14 goals in all competitions and ended up joining Southampton. Upon his introduction, many thought that the Moroccan international would become the latest Saints player to become a fan favourite.

However, after two rather complicated seasons in England, he went out on loan to Celta Vigo. While it wasn’t the sort of move the player’s talents warrant, it was a great way for him to resurrect a career that threatened to derail.

He scored 3 goals and provided 4 assists in 34 matches but it is clear that the player’s performances have alerted a lot of clubs. Reportedly, Celta Vigo want to keep him but it appears that Sofiane Boufal is more eager to play in France.

Top 5 – Performers in the Premier League this weekend

The ninth Premier League round has been on the schedule this weekend and here are the best five individual performers.

According to Foot Mercato, a lot of teams in Ligue 1 are taking notice of the situation. Last week, Olympique de Marseille were linked with the player. Andoni Zubizarreta is eager to add some creativity to the offensive unit and the Moroccan could prove to be a bargain. OGC Nice and Bordeaux have similar needs ahead of the new season.

The Riviera side tried signing Boufal last season but the move fell through. Bordeaux are looking for low cost options this summer but it appears that the player would prefer a move to a club where he is more likely to feature in European competitions.

While Southampton haven’t put the player on the transfer market, they wouldn’t be against a departure either. The Saints are looking for around 10 million Euros to get Sofiane Boufal off their books which means that the likes of Marseille and Nice have a great chance to sign a talented yet inconsistent player.
