Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has compared his young striker to Robin van Persie
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has claimed that Mason Greenwood’s goal-scoring style reminds him of Robin van Persie.
Manchester United put up a splendid display last night against Partizan. The Red Devils played free-flowing football. For the first time in a while, United looked like they were communicating clearly. All the front three of Martial, Rashford, and Greenwood constantly posed danger to the opposing backline.
Mason Greenwood was one of the gems that shone brightly in the last night’s match. The 18-year old repaid the faith shown by his boss. At the twenty-first minute, Greenwood curled in a beautiful shot to open the scoring for his team. When compared to a former United legend, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed that he sees shades of Van Persie’s brilliance in the young forward.
“Definitely. He is very composed with his finishing. It is natural for him.
“Right foot, left foot I still don’t think he knows which is his best one which is very difficult for defenders to defend against.”
“But the good thing is he can do it at Old Trafford in front of a full crowd. He doesn’t get fazed by the occasion so he is still composed,” Solskjaer said.

“[Whether] that is a game with his mates in the park or a cup final he will finish the same. Or in the Premier League hopefully!”
“You always get assessed on results now but the DNA of this club and my philosophy to give young players with the right attitude a chance,” Solskjaer added.
“If that takes a couple of years for [Greenwood] to really come through it is worth it for us. I am managing for Manchester United, not for myself.
“I am managing the best way I think we can get the best out of Mason.”
