Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed Alexis Sanchez will join Inter Milan on a permanent deal from Manchester United and wished him all the best.
Alexis Sanchez joined Inter on loan for this season to reboot his career following a difficult year and a half at Manchester United, where he scored just five goals in 45 appearances.
The former Arsenal star has since enjoyed a relatively impressive campaign at the San Siro. It didn’t get off to a smooth start, but he seems to have rediscovered some of his old spark since returning to full fitness.
CEO Giuseppe Marotta then announced on Wednesday evening that Inter could confirm a deal for Alexis later today following the club’s 2-0 win over Getafe in the Europa League last-16.
Now Solskjaer, whose United side defeated LASK 7-1 on aggregate to book a quarter-final spot on the same night, has confirmed Marotta’s claims.
“We will announce tomorrow so I can confirm we have agreed. Alexis enjoyed his time there they have liked him so that’s a good move for him,” Solskjaer told reporters (via Yahoo).
“We wish him all the best and he is a top player who we want to see play his best football. For whatever reason we didn’t see the best of him here, but he’s a top professional and we wish him all the best.”
