The Swiss goalkeeper explains the reasons why Borussia Monchengladbach lost against Hertha Berlin and the match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Borussia Monchengladbach was trashed at home yesterday in Saturday’s fixture of the German Bundesliga.

The team lost 3-0 against Hertha Berlin, but the players want to leave that behind and start thinking about their upcoming match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

“The defeat obviously hurts, but on the whole, they fully deserved the win,” goalkeeper Yann Sommer told the club’s official website.

“We played well for the first 25 minutes and it was noticeable that they had played 120 minutes in the cup during the week.”

“We got in behind and found space in their defense, resulting in several good chances early on,” he explained.

“Nevertheless, we couldn’t find the goal and failed to control the game after that. We played too slowly and allowed Hertha to play on the counter and get in behind.”

“We only concentrate on ourselves and don’t look at what other teams are doing,” he said after being asked about Borussia Dortmund’s 3-3 tie.

Report: Bayern Munich join the race for Ivan Rakitic

Bayern Munich have reportedly become the latest club to show an interest in signing Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic.

“We wanted to win this home game and didn’t do so. Now we will get over this game and place our focus on our upcoming match against Eintracht Frankfurt.”

“I’m excited about the game and I think it will be a great match,” he said.

“We will face another top side that has had a good season so far and also possesses a very good offensive unit.”

“We will analyze the match against Hertha and work out what mistakes we made so that we are fully prepared for the Frankfurt game,” Sommer concluded.
