Son Heung-Min was an instigator of an accidental challenge on Andre Gomes last week which saw the Portuguese suffer a serious ankle injury.
In the aftermath of events, it was obvious that Son’s tackle in itself wasn’t as dangerous as Gomes falling under Aurier’s leg.
A lot of support came out for Gomes. However, one of his biggest supporters is Son himself.
The South-Korean opened up about his communication with Gomes after the event.
“I text him before I flew and he text me back,” he said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“I still feel really, really bad about this. I feel really sorry.
“Football is a sport where something can happen, but nobody wants to see this situation.
“I’m so sad this happened and that I was involved with this situation. It’s been a really, really tough few days.
“I just text him to say best wishes to you, I’m really sorry for you, your family and your team-mates.”
Everton midfielder is expected to make a comeback the next season.

As for Son, he scored last night and dedicated the goal to Gomes.
