Son Heung-min appeared to apologize to Andre Gomes in his goal celebration during Tottenham’s 0-4 win over Red Star Belgrade.

Son was definitely not to blame for Gomes’s injury.

However, he clearly felt he played a part in the horrific conclusion of the incident.

The South Korean international, made a late challenge that appeared to throw Gomes of balance.

He subsequently twisted his ankle in the fall and suffered a fractured dislocation of his right ankle.

Son was virtually inconsolable in the aftermath and was actually red-carded, although that has since been rescinded.

Everton’s Gomes has undergone surgery, and while it is anticipated he will miss the rest of the season, he should make a full recovery.

Son and his Spurs side, ran out comfortable 0-4 victors over Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Champions League Group B game.

Son got himself on the score sheet twice on the night, but it was his first and Spurs’ second that saw the touch of class in his celebration.

In what appeared to be an apology presumably aimed at Gomes.
