Thiago Silva insists he would not be leaving Paris Saint Germain is he had a say in the matter.
Silva arrived at the Parc des Princes from AC Milan close to the start of the Qatar Sports Investment revolution in Paris.
He has developed a cult hero following with the Parisian faithful and many have questioned his departure.
The player has all but been accused of being a mercenary and moving for no other reason than a lucrative payday.
This is something he vehemently denies, in fact, he is adamant he would be staying if it was his choice.
In an interview reported by Goal, prior to his sides French Cup final with St. Etienne he firmly lays the blame elsewhere.
“It’s a special moment for me, with the supporters, we have always had a lot of respect. They asked if I could stay, but it’s not my decision. Now is not the time to talk about this topic.”
“We will have time to talk about it later. I didn’t want to leave, but the decision has already been made. I respect the decision and will respect it until the end.”
“There are no further discussions [about my future]. Leonardo has already spoken to the press. I don’t want you to talk about this just yet. I understand the topic, your urge to know what’s going on, but now is not the time to talk about it.”
Linking back up with his old boss Carlo Ancelotti seems like it has potential.
