Gareth Southgate feels that his England team have shown themselves to be a threat on the international football stage.
Southgate has led England to a World Cup semi-final and a Nations League semi-final.
They qualified for Euro 2020 scoring more goals than any other team in Europe.
Talking to the BBC, the manager feels that his team has proven they have the credentials to be taken seriously.
“It’s hard to assess exactly where we are after this qualifying campaign.”
” But if we look at a World Cup semi-final, a Nations League semi-final, and qualifying with the most goals in Europe.”
“We have done all we can and we are on a good track.”
Southgate also feels that they can even better.
“We’ve gained some respect and people would view us as a threat, which certainly wasn’t the case ahead of Russia.”
“We also know we have got to improve to another level.”
England has not won a major trophy since the 1966 World Cup.
