The midfielder has been a key part of SPAL adventure from the Serie B to the Serie A, and the two consecutive years keeping their top-flight status.

25-year-old Manuel Lazzari joined SPAL in 2013 and was part of the team that got promoted from the Italian Lega Serie B into the Serie A.

He has been a key part of the team that has avoided relegation in Italy’s top flight division for the second year in a row.

And today, sports director Davide Vagnati was quoted by Gianluca Di Marzio saying he believes the player should join a bigger club, because “he deserves a significant opportunity.”

“He’s a player that grew up with us, he was the first acquisition in C2 and he’s the symbol of our growth,” he said.

“I believe he deserves a significant opportunity. I hope that doesn’t happen but I’m convinced someone will take him away.”

“The most important thing is the unity between the parts,” he explained.

“We have an agile structure with the Colombarini family which own the club, the president Mattioli and then there’s me who is in charge of the sporting area.”

“We have clear ideas, a coaching staff which gave us great satisfaction and a city that is part of us and carries us during difficult moments,” he continued.

“We have an excellent relationship, like all clubs we need to get together to discuss the future. He has another year on his contract and we can extend it another season.”
