Spurs boss praises Dele Alli

The midfielder was once again crucial for last year’s Premier League runners-up.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino praised Dele Alli, insisting that he is a top player and an essential part of the squad. Spurs clinched a 1-0 victory over Barnsley in the third round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday as the goal was scored by no other than Dele Alli.

Pochettino was more than happy with the result as he lauded the 21-year-old’s effort, but also noted that the England international has room for improvement.

“For me, Dele Alli is a top player. He is a key player for us,” Pochettino told a news conference, according to sports outlet Goal.

Quique Sanchez Flores rates Mauricio Pochettino as the Premier League's best coach in the last four years as he prepares Watford for a trip to Tottenham.

“I think he helps us by scoring today. I am so happy with him. It’s true that everyone can do better, but I am happy.

“It is a period that he needs to find his balance, but I am so happy, his performance was good. He tried and scored and that is fantastic.”
