Stephen Kelly has warned Tottenham that Christian Eriksen will be “almost irreplaceable” should he opt for a summer move to Real Madrid.
Los Blancos have allegedly made Eriksen one of their top priorities for the summer transfer window. So far, reports in the British media have stated that a bid of £45m and Dani Ceballos have been offered to Spurs.
The Dane himself recently teased he would “like to try something new”, with his Spurs contract to expire next year.
Therefore, the Lilywhites have begun searching for potential replacements encase of an Eriksen departure. At the top of the list is allegedly Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, while Giovani Lo Celso of Real Betis is also in the running.
But ex-Spurs defender Stephen Kelly reckons his old club won’t have it so easy when it comes to finding a suitable Eriksen replacement.
“Eriksen, he’s one of those, he’s almost irreplaceable,” said Kelly, according to Daily Star.
“He could play in almost any team in the Premier League.
“He’s such a good talent, his vision, his delivery, his execution of the pass.
“He’s going to be a huge loss to them.
“Obviously they’re going to have to get a huge amount of money and we all know [Spurs chairman] Daniel Levy is a tough negotiator.
“So he’s going to try and get the most for him if he is to go. But how do you replace him?”
Eriksen finished last season with 10 goals and 17 assists in 51 appearances for Spurs across all competitions.
