Liverpool legend Phil Thompson has warned his former side to be wary of a dangerous Tottenham side ahead of their Sunday clash at Anfield.
With Man City set to play Fulham on Saturday, the Reds may find themselves in the second position before the clash but it is their response that will determine the mental strength to last the distance.
The previous meeting in Wembley ended in the favour of Klopp’s men who ended his jinx at the ground with a 2-1 win after failing to win in his last two games with Dortmund and Liverpool.
But former Liverpool skipper Thompson wants the Reds to nullify the threat posed by Spurs who are now battling for a top-four finish.
“Spurs are always a top side. I think everyone loves the way they play the game, the way they love to build-up and they have got a top-class manager who likes to change things,” he told Sky Sports News.
“Spurs are still a dangerous side at any time. They may have lost three of the last four but you know them coming to Anfield, they may not be going for the title, but they need to consolidate to play in the Champions League because they need it in that magnificent new stadium of theirs.
“They are going to be fighting for those places so it doesn’t make things any easier for Liverpool.

“I’m expecting a massive game. They have big players and the nucleus of this wonderful England side is based around Tottenham players so Liverpool are going to have to be at their best on Sunday.”
A win for the Reds will see them consolidate the top spot pending till when Man City prosecute their game in hand against rivals Man United.
