An Estadio do Dragao announcer has landed himself in hot water after insulting the superstar football and his family.
FC Porto stadium announcer has been fined for directing derogatory comments at Cristiano Ronaldo and his mother following Juventus’s exit from the Champions League last season.
Juventus were disappointingly dumped out of the 2020-21 Champions League at the quarter-finals stage at the hands of Porto. The two teams were inseparable after two legs, with the scoreline tied at 4-4, but the Portuguese side proceeded to the next round of the competition on away goal rule.
Ronaldo believed a couple of decisions went against him in the away leg at the Estadio do Dragao, especially when the referee rebuffed his appeal for a penalty after he felt he was brought down in the box in the dying minutes of the match.
Fernando Saul, who serves as a stadium announcer for Porto as well as acts as their support liaison officer, pulled no punches towards while rejoicing about his club’s victory on social media.
In his two Instagram Stories, as per Football Italia Saul fired degrading insult towards Juventus and Ronado, branding the Bianconeri as “Italian thieves” while labeling their star player as a “pig”. He didn’t spare CR’s mother Dolores Aveiro either, calling her “toothless crone”.
The Portuguese Federation has now slapped a €1,430 fine on the speaker who has to pay the sum to Ronaldo, although he has apologized for his vicious comments.
