Raheem Sterling already has a growing collection of player shirts but has revealed he’ll particularly love to get his hands on a Lionel Messi shirt.
Raheem Sterling is not rushing to hang his shirt collection on the wall but already has a Lionel Messi shirt in sight.
The Manchester City star admitted he loves collecting football shirts but would not hang them until after his career is over.
Sterling already has shirts from some of the biggest names in football, except the one he wants the most.
The 25-year-old revealed his admiration for Lionel Messi, as well as teammate David Silva who has also inspired him a lot.
“I am a shirt collector but I don’t put any shirts on my wall as of yet,” Sterling told BBC Radio 5 Live as quoted by Goal.
“I don’t like people coming into my house and knowing I am a football player. I like to keep my house family orientated.
“But for sure when I do finish football and settle somewhere I’ll have all the shirts – hopefully many shirts to choose from – and pick my favourites that I played against and do a room of trophies and football shirts.
“There’s only one I really want and that’s a Messi shirt – when we played Barcelona, I got a Neymar shirt, I think that’s the first shirt I ever asked for.”
Sterling also shared his thoughts on how Silva has help him mature as a player.
The veteran midfielder is set to leave City this summer and Sterling claimed the 34-year-old has helped him “keep that humility about yourself and carry yourself in a decent way”.
Prior to the suspension of football, Sterling had been pretty quiet in front of goal, after a brilliant start to the season that saw him rack up 11 league goals.
