Newcastle boss Steve Bruce has expressed his delight at his side’s shock 1-0 away victory to Tottenham Hotspurs

Tyne-side boss Steve Bruce praised his staff and players over their Tottenham Hotspur victory, in a post-match interview with BBC Sport; “But overall, to a man, I thought they were excellent today.”

“All I can do is try and keep the praise on them and of course the staff, who have worked with me all week to quite the storm. If that’s the right word, but hopefully that’ll shut a few people up for a little bit anyway.”

When asked about such criticism being targeted at him, despite only being three games in; “The great thing about Newcastle is everybody wants a bit of it. The great club it is, there’s always a storm and of course, we’ve had to ride it.”

“I hope this gives us a little bit of time, it’s only the first win, but it’s important for the new players in the team

Bruce’s comments come after Newcastle losing their first two games, in somewhat disappointing fashion.

HARSH

Steve Bruce and co, may have a point though… With an opening fixture list that scheduled in Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur as two of their first three games. It is not that big of a surprise to see the tyne-side club with three points out of a maximum nine.

Bruce did end the interview discussing Newcastle’s record signing and game-day hero; “We seen some big performances today from… I’m not going to name any names as that would be unfair, but I was delighted for the centre forward.”
