Barcelona’s Luis Suarez has warned his side against getting complacent after they won their first leg against Valencia in the Copa del Rey semi-final
It was Suarez who scored the winning goal for Barcelona, heading in Lionel Messi’s corner to give his side a slender 1-0 advantage heading into the second leg at Valencia’s home ground. While pleased to have won the first leg, Suarez said:
“We have a slight lead but there are still 90 minutes to play. Valencia are always strong at home and especially in a cup semi-final.”
“They hardly created any danger against us. That’s important. It means they respect us. We created chances despite the lack of space. We were making chances even if they weren’t going in.” Suarez added, as quoted on the Barcelona FC website.
Also speaking after the match was Aleix Vidal, who believes it was a positive result and outlined the importance of not conceding a goal.
“It was only a matter of time before we scored. It’s always important to get a goal and not concede one, so it’s a positive result”
“I prefer playing center mid, it’s where I’ve always played. But if they need me at full back then I’ll work hard to do the job”
