Tebas wishes Ronaldo and Mourinho could come back to La Liga

La Liga president, Javier Tebas, believes both the player and the coach brought so much to the competition and he wishes he could see them there again.

Both former Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho and attacker Cristiano Ronaldo left a long-lasting mark in the Spanish La Liga tournament.

“I would like to have Cristiano Ronaldo back and for Jose Mourinho to be coaching a Spanish team,” La Liga president Javier Tebas was quoted by Goal.

“He’s a great coach and a great name to promote our league.”

He added: “I thought that his departure would affect us more, to be honest. However, I prefer the Spanish league with Ronaldo in it than without.”

“The Premier League for many years had no Ballon d’Or winners, but was still the best league in the world.”

“That’s a great job on many levels,” he said.

He also spoke about the possibility of the biggest names in Europe creating a Super League: “We’re totally against it.”

Match Preview: Atletico Madrid vs Celta Vigo

Atletico Madrid will welcome Celta Vigo to the Wanda Metropolitano stadium tomorrow afternoon at 18:30 (CET) in the fifth round of Spanish La Liga.

“It has a different format than the Champions League and it would make the competition practically closed.”

“The format would kill the competition,” he commented.

“Economic interests would only serve the biggest clubs, at a time when we’re trying to promote competitiveness.”
