Teemu Pukki has literally taken the Premier League to his stride and should now be considered one of the most in-form strikers in Europe.

Teemu Pukki wasn’t a very familiar name a few years ago when he was scoring goals for fun at Brondby in Denmark. The Finland international was once considered one of the finest strikers coming out of the Scandinavian region.

Spotted by Seville while playing for FC KooTeePee in Finalnd, Puki signed for the Andalucian outfit at the age of 18. There, he played with the reserve team between 2008 and 2019 and made just one appearance for the senior side.

After signing in Helsinki where he won two national championship titles, Pukki went on to sign for Bundesliga giants Schalke 04 before signing for Celtic in Scotland.

Loaned to Brondby, the Kotka born striker eventually sealed a permanent move to the Danish club in 2015. Three years later, a move to Norwich came. This was a great deal for both the player and the English Championship side.

In 46 games, Pukki scored 30 goals apart from nine assists. The 29 year old was one of the building blocks towards the Canaries’ push to Premier League promotion. Such fine exploits saw Pukki come to the Premier League for the 2019/20 campaign.

It is clear that Pukki has taken to the league like fish to water.

In addition to making decisive passes, the striker has already found the net five times in only four league appearances. Pukki is formidable and efficient given the fact that he has scored five goals from just 14 shots.

At present, Pukki is the second leading goal scorer in the league, tied with Raheem Sterling and just behind Sergio Aguero who has six for Manchester City.

He has also been nominated as the Player of the Month in the Premier League alongside Kevin De Bruyne, Roberto Firmino and Ashley Barnes. And after already being elected as PFA Fans’ Player of the Month, Pukki’s star is on the rise.

The Finn is also in the running to lift the title for the best goal of the month after his sensational goal against Newcastle United on August 17. That day, Pukki scored a hat-trick against the Magpies. Oozing with confidence and already so successful, Pukki is also in great form for his country.

On Friday night, it was his goal that gave his team a crucial win over Greece in the European Qualification campaign.

This means that Pukki has now scored six goals in his last five games for club and country.

Clearly we are witnessing the emergence of a late bloomer who is in the form of his life. While he may be playing for an unfancied outfit, Pukki is definitely a player whose exploits should be breathed in the same air as that of the likes of Sterling, Aguero and Mohammed Salah.
