Ajax manager Erik ten Hag believes his side should be thinking about winning the Champions League instead of being content with just competing
De Godenzonen have been drawn to face reigning champions Real Madrid in the last-16 of the competition and are expected to have an early exit.
But Ten Hag feels that his side should aspire for better given the strong position they find themselves in right now.
Currently, Ajax are just two points adrift of Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven after winning 15 of their 17 games and reached the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup this month.
“We have been working well and we’re in the middle of a good moment of evolution,” Ten Hag told Fox Sports, via Marca.
“But we want to take a step forward and we can give more.
“We’re alive in three competitions, but we want to do more than just fight.
“We want to win titles.
“[The tie against Real Madrid] is very difficult, but it’s a good opportunity for us.”
The first leg of Ajax’s last-16 tie against Real will begin on February 13 in Amsterdam.
