Marc-Andre ter Stegen still has not quite reached the level of Manuel Neuer although both are excellent, insists Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

In Manuel Neuer and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the German national team possesses two of the finest goalkeepers in the world.

It remains a subject of debate as to who should be Germany’s No.1 for the upcoming European tournament.

The Bayern Munich man has the benefit of experience, having guided the team to World Cup glory in 2014. The Barcelona player, on the other hand, has been sensational for the Catalans in recent years and is arguably in better form at present.

Perhaps the upcoming Champions League clash between Barca and Bayern, when the two shot-stoppers go directly against each other, would provide some clarity in the debate.

For Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, however, it seems the debate is already settled as he makes a disparaging remark towards the Ter Stegen.

“The national team is lucky to have two goalkeepers like this available. Both are, without any doubt, top,” the Bayern president said, according to Marca.

“Manuel is world-class whilst ter Stegen is on the road to becoming world-class.”
