Carlos Tevez reveals he smooched Diego Maradona prior to winning the league title with Boca Juniors’ for good luck.
A goal from Carlos Tevez in the 72nd minute in the match against Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata helped Boca Juniors win the Argentinian Primera Division title last night.
Boca’s victory saw them pip their bitter rivals River Plate on the final day of the season who drew 1-1 at Atletico Tucuman at the same time.
Before the start of the match, Tevez rushed off to the opposition bench and locked lips with Diego Maradona. The 36-year old, who reasoned that his actions were meant to bring good luck for his side, certainly got what he aimed for.
“I knew I had to kiss Diego, I was lucky that way. Sometimes you have to look for luck,” Tevez said, as reported by Goal.
“I was hungry for glory again. I think I felt again that I had to go back to my neighborhood, that I had to get off a lot of things and fight like the kid who fought when I was a kid.
“It was two or three years of fighting against my head, against a lot of things. It was very difficult for me to get out, to get back to my roots.”
