The Rossoblu defeated Parma 4-1 during the weekend and has left Bologna just one point away from getting saved from relegation to the Serie B.
Bologna was almost preparing to leave the Italian Lega Serie A to go to the Serie B, but a 4-1 win against Parma over the weekend has left them only one point away from salvation.
And the Rossoblu coach was very proud of his team.
“I’m very happy, that was probably the best game since I came back here,” the Serbian manager was quoted by Football Italia.
“The boys never gave up, even when they went two goals ahead. I’m happy for them, the credit is all theirs.”
He added: “Since I took over, they have done everything I have asked of them. We were well prepared for this game. They are confident when they go out onto the pitch.”
“We are still not mathematically safe yet, but we have done a great job in catching up with the teams that were ahead of us and our job now is to get as high up the table as we can,” he continued.
“There is a big difference between finishing 15th or 11th we will enjoy this victory, but we still need one more point.”
“I’m very happy here and I’m also pleased with the affection the fans give me, but their praise should be for the players, not me,” he said about the continuity of his project.
“If I have done well, it is because of the players. I worked a lot on their mentality when I arrived, I wanted them to believe in themselves and play with determination, we always play to win now and you can see that attitude on the pitch.”
