What Simeone has achieved in the last decade has been huge despite the lack of silverware.

The Argentine’s unique style defensive and counter-attacking football has worked wonders for Atletico Madrid. It’s allowed them to challenge Barcelona and Real Madrid for top honours in Spain.

Los Colchoneros even snatched the 2013/14 La Liga title and finished runners-up to Real Madrid in the 2014 and 2016 Champions League finals respectively.

But Simeone, who also enjoyed a successful stint as a player for Atletico, ensured they would taste European glory by leading the club to two Europa League and UEFA Super Cups.

What makes the ex-Inter Milan midfielder’s achievement more special is the fact Atletico were mostly a mid-table team when he took over.

Had Simeone won the Champions League, he probably be top of this list.

Teams coached: San Lorenzo, Catania, Racing Club, Atletico Madrid
