With four players from the United States national team leading the shortlist, FIFA has announced The Best women’s player award candidates.
Four players that won the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France are leading the shortlist for The Best FIFA Football Awards.
Twelve women have been selected as candidates but only one will be crowned the best player in the world on September 23rd of this year.
Julie Ertz, Rose Lavelle, Alex Morgan, and Megan Rapinoe have been selected as candidates.
All four of them won the World Cup trophy this summer in France.
Lucy Bronze from England was selected too, along with Caroline Graham Hansen from Norway.
Ada Hegerberg, who won the inaugural Ballon d’Or has been nominated too. She missed the FIFA Women’s World Cup as she claims women are not paid equally as the Norway national team men.
France’s Amandine Henry was also nominated, as well as Sam Kerr from Australia.
Other candidates for the prestigious award will be Vivianne Miedema from the Netherlands, Wendie Renard from France, and Ellen White from the Lionesses.
