Neymar continues to be linked with a return to Barcelona but Roberto Carlos insists his countryman should join rivals Real Madrid instead.
Recent reports claim Neymar is ready to force a move back to Barcelona this summer but his future is far from certain as it stands.
PSG have looked reluctant to sell the Brazilian and elsewhere Real Madrid still have their eyes set on a player they missed out on as a teenager.
Los Blancos came close to signing Neymar from Santos before he opted to join rivals Barcelona.
After becoming a fan-favourite and developing a close friendship with Lionel Messi at Barca, many expect the 28-year-old to fancy the idea of a return to the Catalan side.
But Real Madrid legend and fellow compatriot Roberto Carlos thinks Neymar should snub Barcelona and join Los Blancos instead.
For all of Neymar’s talents, he has never gotten his hands on a Champions League trophy, something that sees people play down his achievements compared to other greats in the game.
For that reason, it would be wise to join Real Madrid, with the club touted as the right opportunity for anyone looking to lift Europe’s most coveted club trophy.
“If it were up to me, (Neymar) would already be here a long time ago, but life is not how one would like it,” Carlos told Fox Sports Radio as h/t by The Express.
“These great players always have to play in the best clubs in the world.
“Real Madrid today is a reference for any player. Do you want to win the Champions League? Come for Real Madrid.”
During his time at Real Madrid, Carlos won three Champions League titles and has urged Neymar to come and do the same at the club.
