According to an alarming report from French journal L’Equipe, defender Raphael Varane could be keen on leaving Real Madrid. We tell you why.
Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is arguably one of the most successful defenders in world football, the France international has literally won everything at club level with Los Blancos and he only needs to win the European Championship with Les Bleus in order to have all the trophies with his national team.
The most alarming part of all this is that the French defender is only 26 years old, this might be the reason why L’Equipe made an explosive report that suggests the player feels like he has already peaked at Real Madrid and a new challenge could be in the stars for him.
But this sudden change of heart needed to be investigated by several Spanish media outlets, Varane is considered the most expensive defender in the world according to Transfermarkt.
The French defender’s price on that website os of €80 million, which could even get to an impressive €100 million if any other club would decide to come after his signature in the summer transfer window.
We already have an idea of which clubs would pay top dollar for this defender, both Manchester clubs and Paris Saint-Germain are the ones capable of paying this much for him.
According to L'Equipe, long-term United target Raphael Varane is considering leaving Real Madrid this summer.

But according to a report from Diario AS, the reasons that Raphael Varane could be analyzing a possible exit from Real Madrid are related to his discomfort for not being appreciated enough by the club after he won the World Cup last summer.
Looking at the example that Atletico Madrid followed with Thomas Lemar, Antoine Griezmann, and Lucas Hernandez, Varane didn’t like not getting an homage for winning the biggest competition in the world.
Real Madrid allegedly decided to not do this because they were already doing all sorts of recognition to Luka Modric, the current Ballon d’Or recipient.
Varane didn’t appreciate this treatment from the club’s board of directors one bit, which is why he might be unhappy with the way in which he has been treated by everybody at the club.
To add more salt to the wound, Real Madrid just signed Brazilian defender Militao and brought even more competition to the French defender that sends him even greater mixed signals that might push him even further away from the club.
At this point, Zinedine Zidane’s return might be the only reason why he could ultimately decide to stay.

However, we are convinced that the main reason why Raphael Varane might have decided to leave the institution is more related to feeling like there is nothing more to win at Real Madrid and a new challenge is more appealing to him.
This tends to happen to many footballers in the world, they become almost deities at their own clubs and they eventually seek that thrill of playing at a different club in order to prove themselves that they are capable of succeeding somewhere else or in a different competition.
Raphael Varane might be following the example that Cristiano Ronaldo left after he decided to play for Juventus, the Portuguese forward could’ve stayed at Real Madrid but he decided to seek for a new adventure instead of settling.
We have to remember that Raphael Varane is a Frenchman, he doesn’t feel the Real Madrid colors like a Spaniard would do and possibly meeting success in a different country is something that he has been planning all along.
Regardless of what he eventually decides to do with his future, there is no doubt that we will report on whatever Raphael Varane decides to do.
