Dele Alli suggests the Tottenham fans deserve much better than their last night’s horrendous performance against RB Leipzig.
Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has pinned the blame for their exit from the Champions League on his side’s ‘not strong enough’ mentality.
Jose Mourinho’s men were no match to RB Leipzig as they were knocked them out of the Champions League last night.
Having also exited from the FA Cup earlier and with being eighth in the Premier League table, Spurs are preparing to have yet another trophy-less season.
Much of the blame on their poor performance has been put on their injury crisis but Dele Alli believes there is much more to his team being unable to compete for silverware.
“It was the mentality. We were second for a lot of balls. You saw at the start we were bright, then we concede the goals. Our mentality wasn’t strong enough,” Alli told BT Sport.
“You can’t blame one person, and I’m not going to single out anyone. It was the whole team, it’s not down to one player to stop goals. I’m gutted.
“I have to apologize for the fans for coming all this way and we lose like that. They deserve better.”
