Thilo Kehrer loves the fact he gets to play alongside star trio Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani at Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG signed Kehrer last summer from Schalke 04 in a €35m deal following a breakthrough campaign in his native Germany.
Expectations for the 22-year-old weren’t high going into this summer due to competition from Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe for a spot in the PSG defence.
However, Kehrer ended up making 40 appearances in all competitions and capped off his debut campaign with a Ligue 1 winners medal.
“It’s a great source of satisfaction. We managed to play as a team for most of the season. And we conceded few goals while also being very clinical up front,” he told the club’s website.
“So, I think we deserved the title. The fans played a big role in the quest for the title, it was important to celebrate with them.”
When asked about his aims for next season, Kehrer replied: “I’m very demanding with myself. I want to achieve great things and continue improving.
“I have analysed my performances, and I want to – and I must – do better while continuing to establish myself in the team.”
The six-time Germany international also had the privilege of playing alongside PSG’s star-studded attacking trio of Neymar, Mbappe and Cavani this season.
The strike trio bagged an impressive haul of 85 goals combined across all competitions.
“It’s always special to play alongside such players,” said Kehrer.
“They’re forwards that can make the difference individually at any moment. They have a lot of qualities. It’s a pleasure to be with them every day in training. It’s a permanent challenge.”
Kehrer is currently with the German national team ahead of this month’s Euro 2020 qualifiers.
Die Mannschaft, who will be without head coach Joachim Low, have a trip to Belarus coming up next Sunday in Group C before hosting Estonia three days later.
