Brazilian legend Robinho recalls the day at AC Milan when Zlatan Ibrahimovic laid down a jiu-jitsu challenge to Gennaro Gattuso.
Just for a second consider the two characters in question here. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, standing at 1.95 meters tall and a black belt in martial arts. Then you have Gennaro Gattuso, the man who slapped a fellow professional across the face for pissing him off.
At one point, they were both on the same team. They played together at AC Milan.
Brazilan forward Robinho was a member of the Rossoneri squad at that time too.
He calls the pair vividly and one-time things almost came to blows,
Speaking to Marca he describes how the undefeatable Ibrahimovic called out the general Gattuso.
“Zlatan often said that he had convinced Milan to sign me…He’d say: ‘you’re here because of me’.”
“Is he arrogant? Yes, but in a good way, he has confidence in his talent.”
“One day in training he challenged Gattuso to a jiu-jitsu fight.”
“Right before your eyes, you had this fierce defender doing martial arts against Zlatan – who is a black belt.”
“Who won? Zlatan always wins…”
