Find out how the PSG board member Luis Ferrer, made a massive effort with Kylian Mbappe’s family in order to convince him to sign with them.
When Kylian Mbappe played for AS Monaco, most people remember his appearance in the world of football as one of those serendipitous moments that progressed into the world-class player that we enjoy today at PSG.
After his debut year with the French club, the best clubs in the world were after this young talent but only two of them had the money to pay for his transfer.
The mentioned clubs were Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, but the French giants really believed they had no chance to convince the young Frenchman because his life-long dream was to play for Los Blancos where his idol Cristiano Ronaldo played at the time.
However, the PSG board members who were tasked to complete the deal made a tremendous effort with Mbappe and somehow got to convince both he and his family that the best option for him was to remain in Ligue 1 for now.
There were a number of trips that the PSG group made to talk to the player and his parents, board member Luis Ferrer spoke to Infobae about how the whole negotiation went down during that summer of 2017.

“We had to work double than Real Madrid. We had to go to his house, we spoke to his family members, we showed them our whole project…”
“We had to go through a whole process in order to show them what we really wanted from him, we had to make them see that we were going to make him play, we had to make them see that he was an important player for us.”
“Fortunately for us, Kylian believed us and we were able to close the deal. When Zidane and Real Madrid called him, they were coming from winning two consecutive Champions League trophies at the time and we really didn’t think that we had any chance to convince him.”
“We did everything you can possibly imagine to get through to both him and his family. I had to take a plane the next morning so I could have breakfast with his family and tell them that he needed to remain in France.”
“We had to convince them that it wasn’t the ideal moment for him to leave the country. That was actually one of the selling points.”
“The key was asking him to ‘stay in France, prove the kind of player you are here and you will have time to taste a different experience in another country’,” said Ferrer during the interview.
"When Zidane and Real Madrid called, after he saw them win two Champions Leagues at that very moment, it was very difficult to think we were going to convince him." https://t.co/tOyyGAOUKC

You already know how the rest of the story has developed, we won’t find out if Kylian Mbappe really made the right decision at club level until the end of the season.
The French wonder kid is breaking records in Ligue 1 and he has already won a World Cup with his National Team, but we all know that the real challenge for him is to win the UEFA Champions League this season.
This Wednesday’s match against Manchester United will tell us if PSG has what it takes to keep advancing in the competition and how worthy they are of reaching the final at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in May.
One thing is for sure though, Mbappe won’t remain at PSG for the rest of his career because he already has the wish to play in a different country like many of his compatriots have done it over the decades.
The most preferred destination is Spain, but rushing to say that Real Madrid will be his net club is not ideal because FC Barcelona is also a great place where he could play in the future.
Let’s see how he does later today against the Red Devils, chances are that he will shine as he did during the first leg.
