Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel knows nothing of Neymar’s alleged trip to Turin just two days prior to their Coupe de France final.
The Brazilian superstar made a welcome return to action from his foot injury during last weekend’s 3-1 win over AS Monaco. It was the first time in nearly three months that he’d been on the pitch.
Although the former Barcelona star was handed a fresh blow on Friday, with UEFA handing him a three-match ban for next season’s Champions League.
But reports in Italy emerged earlier this week claiming that Neymar had jetted off to Turin to meet up with Juventus star Douglas Costa on Thursday. The two Brazilians allegedly attended an event together.
However, Tuchel claims to know nothing of these reports.
“I do not know about it,” said the German, according to Goal.
“I’m not his father, not the police, not a detective.
“I’m the head coach and he was at training yesterday and with us today. That’s it.”
Like Neymar, PSG have been made to cope without record scorer Edinson Cavani due to a hip problem. But the Uruguay international made a 17-minute cameo against Monaco after a long lay-off.
Although Kylian Mbappe has been able to pick up most of the slack in Neymar and Cavani’s absences. The 20-year-old has now taken his tally up to 30 Ligue 1 goals this season following his hat-trick last weekend.
It made Mbappe the youngest player to reach such a milestone.
“He’s been a reliable player, a decisive player,” Tuchel said on Mbappe.
“His status is growing, he’s getting more important, but I think he enjoys it and he’s ready for it.
“We are not talking theoretically here. Everything happened naturally. He took on more responsibilities.
“I have several key players in my team and it’s always a team effort as we demonstrated during important games this season.
“We have to showcase once again tomorrow for 90 or 120 minutes that we can play together, defend together, but Kylian has done really well and he’s extraordinary, that’s for sure.”
After wrapping up the Ligue 1 crown last weekend, PSG will take on Rennes in the Coupe de France final tonight. Kick-off will begin at 21:00 (CET).
