Frank Lampard guided the Blues to Champions League Round of 16 with a 2-1 win over Lille at the Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea needed to win against Lille and they did it but not without last minute jitters. Tammy Abraham and Cesar Azpilicueta scored in the first half, but a Loic Remy goal brought the visitors back in the fixture.

Lille’s pragmatic approach at the start cost them the fixture. With nothing to play for, they rested their first team regulars and sent out an inexperienced team on the pitch. The French outfit could have dumped Chelsea from the Champions League but the Blues held on to progress.

It was Ajax who crashed out of the elite European cup competition. Nevertheless, Frank Lampard’s men have plenty to ponder on their return to Champions League Round of 16.
