Time for Barcelona to sell Ousmane Dembele

Ousmane Dembele was given a chance to showcase his worth at Barcelona against Athletic Bilbao and was abysmal to say the least.

One thing is for sure, Ousmane Dembele is never going to live up to his expectations at Barcelona. The France international is perhaps one of the most talented wingers on the planet but for some odd reason, doesn’t look like one when he plays for the La Liga champions.

Throughout the summer, the youngster had been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain as Barcelona looked to seal a return for Neymar Jr. the Brazilian is eager to return to Camp Nou and Dembele has been the name touted as part of the deal.

This is definitely a far cry from the day when he became the second most expensive player in football history. Barcelona spent a lot of money to bring Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund.

However, the outlay has not really done anything for the club. Injuries and inconsistent displays are something that have riled up the fans. Just like Coutinho, Dembele isn’t a fan favorite and he has only himself to blame for that.

On the opening day of the new La Liga season, Dembele was given a chance to start the game for the Spanish giants against Athletic Bilbao at San Mames. The Basques were in no mood to make it easy for Ernesto Valverde’s men and ended up winning the encounter, thanks to a wonder goal by Aritz Aduriz.

Throughout the game, Ousmane Dembele struggled to put any sort of command into his display. However, with the club short on options, the Frenchman wasn’t hooked off at half-time. From making brash decisions to not linking up with his teammates, Dembele had a horrible outing.

The performance clearly shows that the France international doesn’t have a future at the club. The likes of Atnoine Griezmann and co will come good but the same cannot be said of the young winger.

While he has been given a lot of chances, Dembele has let his club down at every turn. It appears that the way Barcelona play and the pressure on his shoulders is too much to handle. This means that a move away from Camp Nou would be the right decision for everyone involved.

Although Coutinho has been the one who has been loaned out to Bayern Munich, it appears that the Brazilian has been harshly treated. Granted that he struggled last season, when compared to Dembele, the former Liverpool man was more consistent.

And as Barcelona continue making efforts to sign Neymar, the club would be eager to add Dembele as part of any deal they have in mind.

For Dembele, a move to PSG might offer him a chance to resurrect a career that risks an early fall from grace. With so much talent and energy, it would be a shame to see the youngster fade away.

At Barcelona, Ousmane Dembele arrived as a world beater. However, the world hasn’t been kind to him and perhaps a new move is exactly what the player and his club needs.
