Timothy Weah has been officially unveiled as Lille’s latest signing after completing a much-awaited move from Paris Saint-Germain.
After playing the second half of last season with Celtic, Timothy Weah has sealed a move to Lille. The youngster was sold by PSG in a bid to raise funds to avoid the FFP issues. And the youngster is now going to start a new chapter in his football development at a club that is known for developing young players.
On Friday, Timothy Weah was officially presented as Les Dogues’ latest signing. The youngster is a huge fan of the club’s former player Eden Hazard and says that he wants to be like him.
“I’m very happy to be here, I cannot wait to play in front of the fans,” the USA international said according to Foot Mercato.
“Second in the league, in the Champions League, there are some great players who have played here. When I saw that, I thought, ‘I want to be a big player too.’ The plan that was given to me was very clear. I know Lille but don’t know a lot about its history. I will do everything to learn the club’s history. I know Eden Hazard. It makes me want to be a player like him. The work begins now, we’ll see what happens after that.”
Timothy Weah says that he is an intelligent player who likes to find the right pass before adding that it is a dream to play in the Champions League.
“My strong point is intelligent play. I can read the game. On the field, this helps me find passes. I know I will play a lot if I train well. In Paris, it was a little difficult. I cannot wait to play the matches. For me, it’s one of my dreams to play in the Champions League. When I found out that Lille was going to be there, I was very happy to join them.”
