Michael Ball believes Tom Davies needs to grasp his chance with both hands when called upon by Marco Silva.
After a fantastic breakthrough during the 2016/17 campaign, Tom Davies struggled a little bit more last term as Everton finished eighth last season.
“It’s a very big year for Tom Davies,” Ball told the ECHO.
“He burst onto the scene and got all our hopes up, and it’s difficult coming through as a local lad and a young kid with this expectation on your shoulders.
“I just think there’s an opportunity for him earlier than he might have thought, thanks to the injury to Morgan Schneiderlin, to show the manager what he can do.
“He’s got that chance, and he probably needs a run of games to get himself going, because it is difficult when you’re in and out the side.
“But this season, while the manager is getting to know all his new players, any small opportunity you’ve got to grab to prove to the boss that you should be part of his XI week in, week out.”
