Toni Kross has given his verdict of Gareth Bale’s ‘unsatisfying’ situation at Real Madrid as the Welshman’s nightmare in the Spanish capital goes on.
Bale has found himself on the fringes of the Real Madrid squad since Zinedine Zidane’s return to the club and was eager to move to China last summer.
The Welsh superstar was left fuming after his transfer to the Chinese Super League outfit Jiangsu Suning collapsed at the 11th hour, ahead of the 2019/20 season.
Often criticized for his lackadaisical attitude and a lack of form, the injury-prone 31-year-old forward has barely featured for Los Blancos last term.
Indeed, Bale picked up only 12 La Liga starts during the 2019/20 campaign, adding just two goals and two assists to his name in the process.
Former Southampton academy graduate has come under the spotlight this year mainly for his off-field behavior rather than his performances on the pitch.
Toni Kroos has now tried to explain his view of the current situation of the player Real Madrid splurged £85million on in summer 2013.
“There’s no getting around that the situation is unsatisfying for everyone,” the German midfielder said, as relayed by Goal.
“He certainly wasn’t brought in to play as little as he does now.
“I believe that he wanted to leave last summer in principle and that the club signaled a yes at first and then not again.
“I don’t know if he’s still a bit mad about that. It’s a difficult subject.”
