Juventus, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona, and more made the cut as the world’s most valuable football clubs in 2021.
Real Madrid and Manchester United’s 16-year dominance as the world’s most valuable football clubs has ended.
Despite a reported debt of €1.173 billion ($1.4 billion), Barcelona are the most valuable football club in the world in 2021. The Catalan club tops the list with a value of $4.76 billion. This just edges La Liga rivals Real Madrid, who are valued at $4.75 billion in comparison.
According to Forbes, Barcelona have never previously been on top. Real Madrid, who have topped the rankings five times, and 11-time chart-toppers Manchester United had monopolized the top spot for the last 16 years.
Forbes also reported that the value of football clubs over the last two years rose by 30% despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Premier League, meanwhile, is strongly represented. Six teams made the top 10 alone in Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham.
While a two-year increase in value of 129% has allowed Paris Saint-Germain to nick a spot in the upper half.
Juventus, on the other hand, are only in 11th-place. Despite boasting the world’s most marketable football player in Cristiano Ronaldo, the Bianconeri have dropped out of the top 10.
