The Old Lady is ready to shell out £72 million on Arthur but does he even fit in Maurizio Sarri’s plans for possession-based football at the Allianz Stadium.
For the first time in his professional career, Cristiano Ronaldo lost two back to back finals. This is an important statistic for a 35-year-old player.
Juventus was supposed to be Ronaldo’s swansong. His final hurrah at the highest level. He proved it in Champions League last season and is doing it on a regular basis in Serie A this season.
All the while Maurizio Sarri is struggling to wow the rafters. The Italian champions have scored a measly 50 goals in Serie A while Atlanta, having the 14 biggest wage budget, have managed 74.
Gasperini is doing a better job with his cheaply assembled squad than the Turin giants. Sarri was supposed to be an improvement on Allegri but it is proving to be counter intuitive.
In the midst of it all, Juventus are going out to sign Arthur Melo from Barcelona. The Brazilian will not come cheap and is supposed to command £72 million.
The Allianz Stadium dressing room will welcome another superb addition but is Arthur the right man.
