Although Frenkie de Jong isn’t exactly a defensive midfielder like Sergio Busquets, the Dutch player came to Barcelona as a blessing.
From the very first moment he started playing for the Catalan club, manager Ernesto Valverde immediately saw his potential.
As a result of the trust he earned, Frenkie is already playing Busquets’ position when the veteran needs some rest.
But more importantly, De Jong’s versatility gives him so many weapons to choose from and he is taking full advantage of them.
It’s safe to say that Frenkie proved why UEFA named him the best midfielder in Europe last season.
