The original Ronaldo was a man who commanded big fees and justified them. His move to Inter Milan was undoubtedly a case of him doing that.

His £25.2 million move not only made him the world’s most expensive player at the time but just the second player to break it twice. It also broke Barcelona and La Liga hearts.

The move to Inter Milan was a hugely successful one, though, as the world’s best player continued to add to his status.

His first season saw him score 34 goals in all competitions, with 15 coming the next season. Injuries ruined his first stint in Italy after that, but he rectified the situation when he arrived at Real Madrid.
