It’s time to take a closer look at the Top 5 legends who rejected FC Barcelona when they were in their prime. Another list for you.

Playing for FC Barcelona has become one of the most coveted jobs for any professional footballer, but there are some legends who rejected them.

This wasn’t always the case, the Catalan club was actually not that successful during the second half of the ’90s decade.

But they still attracted several of the best players in the world, especially the Brazilian ones.

But there are some true legends of the game that always refused to play at FC Barcelona for one reason or another.

We will talk about the Top 5 most famous cases of the footballers who resisted the Catalan club’s offers.

5.- Alessandro del Piero

‘Pinturicchio’ was one of the most coveted players in the world when he was in his prime.

We are talking about one of the most exquisite forwards in Italian football history, and he rejected several clubs.

He lived through a similar situation that Gianluigi Buffon did during the Caciopoli era.

Players such as Fabio Cannavaro or Zlatan Ibrahimovic decided to jump ship, but not Del Piero.

The forward received a very lucrative offer from FC Barcelona that he rejected, his reason was fairly simple.

Juventus was his home, and he wasn’t going to leave them hanging during their most difficult time.

4.- Andrea Pirlo

Pirlo is one of the few midfielders in the world who would’ve fit right in with Xavi and Iniesta at FC Barcelona.

The Italian player had a similar quality with the ball, and he was tempted to join in 2012.

This happened while he was still playing for Juventus, but the offer wasn’t lucrative enough and he ended up rejecting it.

Plus, Pirlo refused to become a bargaining chip in a trade with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Italian player went on to become a Juventus player and continue his career as a veteran.

In fact, he improved as the years went by and continued to win titles.

3.- Franck Ribery

Pep Guardiola himself did everything he could to sign Franck Ribery from Bayern Munich.

But the Frenchman simply didn’t want to leave the German giants, for he was too comfortable there.

The Catalan manager eventually got to coach this brilliant player, but the Barcelona fans were left unhappy with the rejection.

The Frenchman went on to become one of the German club’s biggest legends in modern football history.

In fact, Frack won the famous treble in 2013 and he was one of the main figures.

2.- Dennis Bergkamp

Known as one of Arsenal’s most exquisite strikers, Dennis Bergkamp was coveted by the biggest clubs in Europe.

Before he became a Gunner, he was tempted to join Johan Cruyff’s FC Barcelona during the mid-’90s.

But the player decided to choose Inter Milan instead, and he missed his opportunity.

Bergkamp doesn’t talk about that decision very much, which means we don’t know if he regrets it or not.

1.- Cristiano Ronaldo

Believe it or not, Cristiano Ronaldo was highly coveted by FC Barcelona during his final years at Manchester United.

The Portuguese star was already one of the best players in the world, and his decision would alter history forever.

He famously rejected the Catalan club for two very specific reasons. First, he was a known Madridista before joining the team.

But more importantly, Ronaldo preferred to continue his rivalry with Leo Messi rather than joining him in Barcelona.

We would’ve loved to see Ronaldo play alongside the Argentine.

But we wouldn’t have gotten the greatest rivalry in sports history if that happened.
