Like Neymar, Lionel Messi hasn’t quite had the international success that he would want. Indeed, some will tell you he can’t be considered among the greats until he wins something with Argentina.
That may be the case, but his goalscoring record for his country is nothing short of sublime. Messi has been their leading goalscorer for the best part of a decade.
Not only is he his country’s top goalscorer with 65 goals in 129 games, but he’s also in the top 20 international goalscorers of all-time.
Given he only needs five goals to get into the top ten on that list, expect him to move much higher up in the years to come. In fact, a robust Copa America showing this summer could do that for him.
