The five-time winner is the hot favourite to claim the prestigious individual award ahead of Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Ronaldo.

Bookies and ex-players alike are all backing him to come out on top, and FIFA’s The Best award victory in September has only fueled this belief.

Catalan papers Sport and Mundo Deportivo even recently called for the Argentine to be named the King of Football once again. They both referenced Messi’s incredible performance against Real Valladolid as proof to why he deserves the prize.
