The team replaced AC Milan after the Rossoneri was excluded due to Financial Fair Play violations, but their stadium will host a concert that day.
Torino is set to play in the UEFA Europa League next season after AC Milan was excluded.
The Rossoneri violated the Financial Fair Play, and that’s why the Toro will be in the prestigious tournament.
But their preliminary round match will be played in nearby Alessandria, a club in the Italian Serie C, because Torino’s stadium will host a concert the day of the match.
“It’s true, the first game will be played in Alessandria,” president Urbano Cairo told Football Italia.
“It’s really disappointing, especially for our fans, that we cannot begin the season in the Stadio Grande Torino, but we wouldn’t have time to fix the pitch after summer concerts.”
“There will be fewer fans at Alessandria, but they’ll still cheer us on,” he added.
“We will bring in two new players, one of the possible starting the match. Belotti is an important player, he is our captain.”
“Mauro Icardi is an excellent center-forward, but we already have Il Gallo and are hanging on tight,” he commented.
“It’s important to maintain the squad, as the team is ready and there is no haste to bring in new players.”
