Lucas Torreira is struggling to establish himself this season at Arsenal due to Unai Emery’s unusual choice of position for him.
A lot of criticism goes toward Unai Emery this season.
A big part of this is the ineffective usage of Lucas Torreira.
Having started just four matches in the Premier League, Uruguayan came off the bench five times for Arsenal.
Arsenal playmaker’s agent, Pablo Bentacur, opened up about his client’s situation:
“Torreira is doing well at Arsenal, although the change of role doesn’t make him happy, but it must be said that this year the whole team is not doing well.
“It was difficult to take Torreira at the time, now I don’t know how things are, but I think Arsenal wants to retain him.
“In the new role he is not at ease, but we respect the coach’s decisions. After that we’ll see what happens.”

The midfielder was connected to a Serie A move a lot in the past. These rumors just heated up after the agent added that Torreira wanted to go to Napoli.
“Torreira was upset when he missed the chance to join Napoli,” concluded Bentacur, as quoted by Calciomercato.
