Tottenham are the latest side to show interest in Ivan Rakitic, with the midfielder looking likely to leave Barcelona at the end of the season.
Ivan Rakitic is wanted by a number of sides and North London outfit Tottenham are the latest to show interest.
The Croatian has been a key figure in the Barca ranks since joining from Sevilla in 2014 but has seen his role reduced to only a ‘squad member’.
The arrival of Frenkie De Jong has seen Rakitic get very limited time and it’s expected the 32-year-old could yet consider a future elsewhere.
Much recently, Rakitic revealed Barcelona offered him as part of a make-shift deal to bring Neymar back to the club last summer.
The former Sevilla man wasn’t too pleased with that development and clearly stated he won’t allow Barcelona treat him like a ‘sack of potatoes’ and would only stay where he is respected.
Rakitic will see his current Barca contract expire next summer and it would seem ideal that the summer looks the perfect time to sell him rather than the club risking losing him for free.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham are the latest club to register their interest as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his midfield options.
The report adds that Spurs interest in Rakitic could be strengthened by the fact that Barcelona also have their eyes on Tanguy Ndombele, who has struggled to impress Mourinho in North London.
It won’t be a straightforward deal though as Spurs will have to battle the likes of Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Napoli and former side Sevilla, who are also interested in snapping up the Croatian.
In another scenario, Barcelona could yet offer Rakitic a new deal after head coach Quique Setien recently claiming the 32-year-old will get his time to play, should he remain at the club.
