Christian Eriksen has his heart set on a move away from Tottenham according to club legend, Ossie Ardiles.
Christian Eriksen already admitted last month that he is ready to try something new in his career. And after six years at Tottenham, no one can blame the Dane to want something more out of his career.
And Ossie Ardilles says that it would be pointless of his old club trying to force a player to stay when he doesn’t want to.
With Real Madrid and Manchester United hovering above, Spurs are definitely going to find it hard to hold on to the creative playmaker.
Speaking to talkSPORT 2, the Argentina legend said: “It looks to me like he has put his mind on a move – that he wants to go somewhere else.
“And if that is the case it’s futile for the club to try and keep a player when he wants to leave.
“I won’t say he’s not happy with us, because he is, but his mind is trying to play somewhere else, and the best thing is to part company.”
Spurs have already splashed a lot of money on Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke with the former becoming the club’s most expensive signing. And Ardiles believes that Mauricio Pochettino has shown that he wants to spend on young stars with promise rather than making moves for ready made stars.
“People were speculating about who Mauricio was going to buy,” he continued, “but no one has the slightest clue except for Mauricio.
“But you can see right now the way he does things; he likes to buy young players and put a lot of his influence on them, and take it from there.
“People like Dele Alli for example.”
And though Eriksen wants to leave, seeing the club invest in young players with potential might force the former Ajax man into reassessing his decision.
