Eight people arrested on Wednesday’s Carabao Cup game where Tottenham hosted West Ham at Wembley
Eight fans who seemed too excited were arrested at Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup match where Tottenham and West Ham battled against each other at Wembley, which ended up with West Ham winning the game.
Two men were arrested by police on suspicion of possession of class A drugs, two others were arrested on suspicion of assault, while others were arrested on suspicion of assault on a police officer, violent disorder, affray and of being drunk and disorderly, according to Sky Sports.
Social media made sure that videos of fans fighting each other go viral. Both Spurs and West Ham fans were involved in the fights caught on tape. Reports also suggest that there were fights in the Club Wembley section of the building as well.
Another video allegedly shows someone in the home section urinating into a pint glass before throwing its contents at the moving West Ham fans, claims Sky Sports.
Tottenham Hotspur was asked about the incident, and the London-based club seem to take action.
They have told Sky Sports News that the club is investigating the video footage and have asked those who have any kind of information about “anything untoward” at last night’s Carabao Cup game to contact either Tottenham or the police.
One of the club’s spokesperson stated where the club stands regarding this issue: “This behaviour is completely unacceptable and we are currently investigating and working to identify the individual responsible.”
Wednesday’s game was the second time the two sides met this season. Mauricio Pochettino’s team took the lead and made the score 2-0. At this point Tottenham fans thought they have the game in their pockets.
Slaven Bilic’s side had a different opinion and that probably pissed some Spurs fans off.
West Ham managed to score three goals in the second-half, making it 2-3 and ensuring their place in the quarter-final of the domestic cup.
