According to Lucas Moura, Tottenham will focus more on winning a trophy over a top-four spot next season.
Moura has revealed Tottenham are more focused on winning a trophy than anything ahead of next season.
A draw against Crystal Palace on Sunday saw Spurs leapfrog Wolves into sixth place for an Europa League spot.
Winning the competition could also be another route for a Champions League spot which Moura and company have achieved for the past four seasons.
Moura admits the club are eager to get back to the Champions League but will focus more on winning any trophy at all. Tottenham last won a trophy (the Carling Cup) in 2008 and the club are anxious to start claiming silverware once again.
“Yes, it’s a target to get back in the Champions League but the main target is to win a trophy,” the Brazilian told Standard Sport.
“We really deserve it, so do the club and the fans. We have a very good squad and the structure that we need [to win silverware]. So we need to target this – to win a trophy and then, of course, get back to the Champions League.”
“Of course, [winning the Europa League] must be a big target for us,” Moura added. “It’s a very beautiful competition and I’m sure we’re capable of winning it. But now it’s time to rest, to enjoy our holidays.”
